This painting, Ripple, was inspired by the way the light shines through the ripples on the surface of the water.
At least to me that's what I see. And it makes me feel calm, safe, inspired, and happy.
However it makes you feel, or whatever you see, is up to you.
As I was working on this piece, I entered a flow state in the present moment, and I had no plan in what I was doing and no intention of creating this final piece.
I also love playing with oil paint… the thick texture and sound of my palette knife scraping across the canvas is a pleasing meditation for me.
At one point in my flow state, I had to stop myself and look back at this beauty I had just created. It’s an ongoing practice for me to accept that these "accidental" pieces are finished. They are reminders that the simplest solutions can be the best solutions.
